Cheryl Ng
Extradition Lawyer
Cheryl Ng is an Advocate & Solicitor with over 13 years of experience defending clients facing criminal proceedings in Singapore. A former Public Defender and Criminal Legal Aid Scheme (CLAS) Fellow with the Law Society of Singapore, she is known for dedicated and strategic representation in matters involving cross-border criminal exposure.
Cheryl has represented clients of American, Vietnamese and Russian nationality facing extradition requests from Singapore, and understands the particular pressures these cases place on foreign nationals navigating an unfamiliar legal system, often at speed and far from home. Her work spans the full extradition process, from initial arrest and remand through to helping worried family members get in touch with their loved ones who have been unexpectedly detained.
Her broader criminal practice extends to capital matters, including murder and drug trafficking, and she has assisted clients detained under the Criminal Law (Temporary Provisions) Act. This grounding in high-stakes criminal defence informs her approach to extradition cases, where the consequences of surrender can be severe and the window for effective intervention narrow.
Cheryl acts for both local and expatriate clients, and regularly handles the ancillary immigration and employment issues that extradition and criminal proceedings can raise, an important consideration for foreign nationals whose residency or work status may be affected.
Cheryl was admitted as an Advocate & Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore in 2013. She was also admitted as a Solicitor of England & Wales in 2022 and is a Certified Fraud Examiner (2024). She is proficient in English and Mandarin, an asset in cases involving Mandarin-speaking clients or cross-border evidence.
